Today was the first day of practice the weather displayed high temperatures and humidity reaching the 107F degrees with some sprinkles of rain, these changes made the setup more difficult due to the slippery track. From the first day hard tires were necessary.
For today the fastest drivers were Morganti (S710-Mega), McNally (S710-Mega), Tosolini, Swager, Cyrul, Burch.
Let’s see what happens tomorrow!!!!!!.

Todays the track was much better traction wise and temp even higher (air temp 106F and track temp 150F). Two controlled practice where run and after that free practice. Fastest guys on low 18's and fastest lap so far is 17.9 (Swager) Be consistent in this type of track is the key to be in the game After 2 days of practice, fastest guys are pretty much the same: Swager (MTX 3), Burch (RRR), Morganti (S710/Mega/Ellegi), Gray (S710/Mega/Ellegi), Tosolini (RRR), Cyrul (RRR), Mcnally (S710/Mega/Ellegi), Atomic (RRR). So far everyone are really close. Serpent Team is doing pretty good. Morganti and Gray are on the pace. A little bit slower (3/10 sec.)but getting there is Mcnally. Apolaro, Ciccarello, Buran and Regalado are improving. The only bad news is that around 7:30 pm, rain decide to be part of the day. So tomorrow, will be a totally different game Stay tuned for furthers upgrades

Una leve narracion de la carrera:
The ROAR Sedan National Class was run shortly after. As many people expected, Mike Swauger dominated from the get-go - even when he got in the middle of traffic that wanted to run at a faster pace than he did, it didn't take long for him to get up front and start pulling away. Unfortunately, 18 minutes into the race, it started to rain, and the racers were called in.
A couple of hours later, the race was resumed. There would be another 44 minute race, and the results of this would be combined with the results from the first 18 minutes to determine the winners. Mike Swauger once again dominated. Clearly, he and his Mugen "owned" the track, or at least they did until Mike's battery pack dumped. Josh Cyrul inherited the lead, and Josh (with his 1200 mah batteries) had clear sailing to the finish.
There were numerous problems however. First, it was difficult to sort out who "won" the first 18-minute run, as some racers came in when the race was called, while others made sure to go to the start/finish line to get their last lap in. Then too, there were racers who had flamed out, and because the timing line was right after the pits, it was decided that any racer doing this for the rest of the race would receive a 15-second penalty (so they didn't benefit from running out of fuel and restarting again from the pits). Paolo Morganti was given an 8-second penalty, as his car had several flame-outs and was re-started from the pits during that first 18-minute session of the race. There were also problems with lap counting, as both Mike Swauger and Paolo Morganti had batteries die during the race, and had to come in for replacements. The people in timing and scoring first started to count manually, but then after the new packs were installed, these cars got double-counts until things were sorted out. At any rate, with Mike Swauger being out of contention because of the battery problem, Josh Cyrul took over the lead and held it for the remainder of the race.

Why stinks? because Serpent did not won? give me a break... Los demas tuvieron problemas, that's all there is to it! :yellow_fa

Mike Swager ,Paolo Morganti y Ralph Bush.

"Dear Mr. Myers, i really appreciate a lot your work bringing us really high quality pictures and very accurate race report, but this time let me tell you that seems that you either was not on location (and i know that you was there because even if i haven`t the pleasure to meet you, i saw you) or you was too busy taking pictures that you did not see the event.
Let me tell you that i am a hardcore Mugen supporter and customer and a Swager fan (the best driver in US from my point of view) but when i was reading your article (that by the way is the same that has being published in RCTECH, Sgrid, just slightly modified ) i had to read it several time because seems to me that what you write was not really reflecting the reality (a Journalist should write just the facts, not the opinions)
When you start describing the A main you said "Mike Swauger dominated from the get-go – Mike started in the lead, but had traffic catch up to him, with Mikey running in the middle of the pack for a while" Actually, he start in the first place but after a few laps the Serpent driver Paulo catch him and pass him very agressively (there is a picture of this agressive pass on Mr. Pilone website) Paulo was streching the lead (also because his first pist stop was almost 1 minute later than Swager) but he flame out and so Mike took again the 1st. Is a little bit different from what you wrote.
The remark is because reading your article, you tend to believe that the event was totally dominated by Mugen and Swager (wich is not far to be true) and leave the others look like amateurs. Burch was very fast, Cyrul was fast won the race. The Serpent cars where looking really good (fastest 5 minutes qualyfier and fastest lap of the event) and Paulo was concictently fast the whole week.
So even if i am happy reading awesome things about my hero, it will be more interesting and fair if you stick to the facts"
Best Regards
Mike Rendon

Nat's Update
"The final day was really exciting and at the same time a little bit disappointing. In the B main Apolaro and Ciccarello had a very good chance to bump up, but unfortunately they where not lucky enough.
The A main final was really interesting and at the same time confusing. The rain was part of the game around the 14th minute and the race had to stop. The race was restarted from there in some way and at the end Josh Cyrul won a well deserved National championship.
Our Team did very good in the final even if we had many issues. Paolo was leading the race the first five minutes, then had a flame out exiting the pits (this cost him a 8 seconds penalization), then had another flame our just before the 10 minutes mark. Just before the re-start of the race, he crash the car and broke an upright (his pitman was able to replace the part in less than 2 minutes, but the setup was not perfect anymore) On the second leg, he was in 3rd place (according with the computer) fighting with Josh for the 2nd spot. He was faster but less consistent (the car was not that good after the crash). Around 15 minutes later his transponder stop counting (basically his battery was dying) and a few minutes later he had to stop for a battery change. Before the end of the race, another flame out just to finish in style.
At the end, he finish officially in third place.
The other 2 Serpent drivers where also fighting for the entire event. Gray was having major issues at the start of the race because he choose a wrong setup and was spinning everywhere. His mechanic was able to fix the car just before the re-start, the car was much better but a lot of time where lost and no chance for the podium. He finish in 11th place. Mcnally drove a very good and intelligent race. He had the speed to be on the right pace and actually was doing pretty good (4th spot after the rain) Beside having a problem with the throttle finger (he has a hand cramp and when he stop to try to fix the finger, the engine flame out) he never had any issues, and at the end with all the confusing he was declared in 6th place
For Team Serpent was quite an experience. The 710 was performing extremely well and together with the Mega engines and Ellegi tires was the car to beat. Actually the best single 5 minutes round (the TQ in a regular event without qualypoints) and the fastest lap of the event was set by Paolo Morganti.jejejeje,,,, como te quedó el ojo Manolo!!!! tongue_lau
We want to thanks the entire Team for the exceptional work in such difficult conditions. Special thanks to Mr. Rene Cornella for all the support, and last but not least our main sponsors (Serpent/Mega/Ellegi)
