Bueno por aqui biene otro tipo de bateria que lo mas probable es que llegue al mercado de los hobbies. Aqui un poco de informacion respecto a ellas.

THE TRI-POLAR LEAD COBALT BATTERY. The Company’s Lead Cobalt Battery is fully developed and was used successfully in over 100 electric vehicles starting in 1966, including the winning vehicles in the two cross country electric car races between the campuses of CalTech and MIT in 1968 and 1970. A number of improvements have been made throughout the years. The latest improvements are the subject of a U.S.A. patent issued this year in which all 100 claims were allowed. The new battery with Lead-Foam Grids will be much lighter than ordinary lead-acid batteries and will have a higher voltage as well as greater energy and power density. Two additional patent applications are pending with the Company’s patent attorney and will be filed in 2006 on methods of production of Lead-Foam. Apollo believes its new battery can replace such advanced battery technologies as nickel-metal-hydride and lithium-ion in many applications for approximately 20 percent of the cost. CEO Robert R. Aronsson has been involved in battery research since 1947 and was the original developer of the Tri-Polar Lead-Cobalt Battery and recently developed the Lead-Foam Grids.

Apollo will be able to profitably sell a Lead Cobalt Battery for US$75 per kWh versus US$400 per kWh for Nickel-Metal-Hydride batteries, its closest competitor. The Company expects that early customers for its batteries will include auto-makers who produce Hybrid Vehicles and other original equipment manufacturers of electric vehicles (such as golf carts), and fleet owners, including electric utility companies, that presently operate fleets of low-performance electric vehicles equipped with lead-acid, or nickel-metal-hydride batteries. The Company will offer to replace these batteries with the new Lead Cobalt Battery and Apollo™ Fuel Cell combination that will provide performance equivalent to that of gasoline or diesel powered vehicles, but with zero pollution.
